Expect another exciting celebration in Cairns as the spectacular tropical region will once again welcome performers and spectators on this year’s Cairns Ukulele Festival.
People from all walks of life are invited to make and enjoy music at the Festival. The ukulele has been known to bring people together. Moreover you can get start your ukelele career at the Festival as it is easy to play and affordable. The organizers wish to introduce the joy and camaraderie of their musical community to us many people as possible. Moreover, the natural grandeur of Cairns will also be showcased by using different locations for the festival activities.
Happening on 1 July to 3 July 2011 in various venues around Cairns, the Cairns Ukulele Festival will feature an array of exciting activities and programs that everyone will surely enjoy. As a one of the most successful events in the Festival, the Art Exhibition will once again showcases artistic creations such as decorated ukuleles made by local, national and international artists. The Festival will also present Start Uke Building Workshop where participants can take part in Building Your Own Ukulele Course. You can also learn how to play the ukulele with the help of distinguished guest ukulele instructors that can teach beginners, intermediate and advanced players. Festival will also launch its World Record Attempt event that aims to gather 1000 people simultaneously playing the ukulele.
Aside from exhibits, workshops and record breaking attempts, festival goers from our Cairns holiday apartments can also catch some of the most talented local and international ukulele musicians and performers. There will be a number of shows, pocket concerts and shindigs that will feature performances from ukulele musicians such as Victoria Vox (USA), Brittni Paiva (Hawaii), Daniel Ho (Hawaii), The Sweet Hollywaiians (Japan), Iwao Yamaguchi (Japan), Matt “Jumpingflea” Dahlberg (USA), Shigeto Takahashi (Japan), Craig Chee (Hawaii), AJ Leonard’s Tropical Lounge (VIC), Renee Searles (NSW), Charles J. Tan (Victoria), Shaun Chandran (Western Australia), Terry Sasaki aka Terryukes (Queensland), Ricardo Idagi aka King Kadu (Murray Island), Tyrone (Queensland), Jon Duncan aka Eugene Ukulele (Tasmania) and many more.
