Get ready to welcome in the Year of the Snake in style at the Cairns Chinese New Year Street Festival.
Now in its 9th year, the festival will once again celebrate the start of the Chinese New Year with a host of live entertainment and festivities for the whole family to enjoy in the heart of Cairns. You can expect a huge vibrant street parade featuring the ancient dragon and lion dances and the 12 animals of the zodiac, market stalls, cultural displays and exhibitions, martial arts demonstrations, traditional dance, lantern painting and plenty of delicious authentic cuisine. A dazzling fireworks display will light up the skies from 8pm.
Most of the events will be based at Forgarty Park on Cairns Esplanade, not far from our Cairns holiday apartments, and will kick off from 3pm. We hope to see you there!
